   Membership
 

Regular Members

Regular membership is open to all full-time journalists working in Thiruvananthapuram, engaged in editing or reporting or news photography or proofreading covered by the Working journalists Act and to all permanent journalist employees working as news reporters/news editors/ news camerapersons of private television/radio channels/agencies, telecasting/broadcasting/producing news bulletins on a daily basis.

Regular membership is open to only those journalists who have completed two years of fulltime service after confirmation of service.

Applications in the prescribed form should be accompanied by two passport-size photographs, certificate to prove age and true copies of the appointment order and salary slip pertaining to the month of submission of the application issued by the management of the newspaper/news agency or the TV/radio channels/agencies concerned.

First-time applicants will be admitted only as a Notional Member who has the right to utilize all facilities of the Club but no right to vote or contest elections or attend General Body meetings. In the case of those who have put in five or more years of service in posts covered by the Working Journalists Act, as applicable to the rules governing Regular membership, the norm of Notional membership will not be apply.

The name of the application shall be proposed by a Regular Member and seconded by another Regular Member who is not in arrears of the Club dues for over three months as on the date of application.

Fees:  Admission Fee: Rs 250. Membership Fee: Rs 10 (monthly).
Contribution to Welfare and Charity Scheme: Rs 15 (monthly).

Honorary Members

Every Regular Member who retires or voluntarily retires from service automatically becomes an Honorary Member. The General Body on recommendation of the Managing Committee also confers honorary membership on persons who have made significant contributions to the field of journalism elsewhere in the country or abroad.

Service Members

Service membership is granted to persons working in Thiruvananthapuram for limited periods in various branches of mass media connected with the profession of journalism under the control of government or semi-government organizations.

Service members cannot contest or vote in elections and attend the General Body meetings. They will lose their membership when they cease to hold positions connected with the profession of journalism.

Fees: Admission Fee: Rs 300 Monthly Subscription: Rs 30

Institutional Members

Institutional membership is open to public relations officials of various institutions in public or private sectors on payment. They will not have the right to vote or contest the Club elections. The membership is limited to one person from an institution. Institutional members will not be eligible to attend any meeting of the Club without special invitation from the Managing Committee.

Fees: Entrance Fee: Rs 25,000 Monthly subscription: Rs 250

Associate Members

Associate members will enjoy all the privileges of a Regular Member but will not have any part in the administration of the Club. They have no right to vote or contest elections. They will not also be eligible to attend any meeting of the Club without special invitation from the Managing Committee.

Fees: Admission Fee: Rs 25,000 Annual Membership Fee: Rs 500
